Development and Integration of Televisión Melilla’s New 4K Mobile Unit

At Broad Service, we have designed, supplied, integrated, configured, and commissioned a new 4K mobile audiovisual production unit for Televisión Melilla, providing a comprehensive solution aimed at modernizing its outdoor production capabilities and replacing infrastructure that has been in service for more than twenty years.

Our team was responsible for designing the technical architecture of the mobile unit, selecting and integrating the various broadcast systems, installing the equipment, performing the cabling, configuring all the equipment, and conducting the necessary operational tests to ensure a fully functional solution tailored to the client’s production needs.

The solution was developed using a vehicle built by Tecnove, whose interior design has been optimized to provide an ergonomic and efficient work environment, with capacity for up to seven simultaneous workstations dedicated to directing, production, technical control, sound, playback, and content management.

At Broad Service, we have designed a production infrastructure capable of simultaneously operating up to six professional cameras, enabling us to handle sports broadcasts, cultural events, institutional ceremonies, entertainment programs, and special news coverage in both high definition and 4K resolution.

The unit’s technological core is based on the Ross Video Ultrix platform, integrated by Broad Service as the central element for routing, processing, and distributing audiovisual signals. This platform is complemented by dedicated control panels and Ross OpenGear technology for signal processing, conversion, and integration, providing a flexible, scalable, and easy-to-operate architecture.

For image capture, professional Sony HXC-FZ90 cameras equipped with Fujinon ZA17 and ZA12 lenses have been integrated, offering high image quality and the versatility needed to adapt to productions of varying types and complexity.

On the audio side, Broad Service has implemented a professional system based on a Yamaha DM7 digital console, complemented by monitoring, intercom, and technical communications systems that ensure coordination among the various operators during live productions.

The solution also incorporates recording and instant replay systems, as well as specialized equipment for monitoring and quality control of audio and video signals, ensuring the reliability of the infrastructure during broadcasts.

As part of the project, we have also integrated solutions designed to improve the vehicle’s energy efficiency through solar-powered support systems, helping to reduce electricity consumption during certain operations and promoting a more sustainable audiovisual production model.

Through this project, Broad Service has provided Televisión Melilla with a state-of-the-art, fully integrated mobile unit designed to meet the current demands of the broadcast industry, enhancing the technical quality, operational flexibility, and reliability of on-location productions, while ensuring an infrastructure capable of addressing future growth and technological advancements.
