RTV Melilla launches a state-of-the-art Visual Radio Studio designed by Broad Service

In its twenty-fifth anniversary year, Broad Service continues to consolidate its position as a leading company in the broadcast and audiovisual sector with the execution of large-scale technological projects of high strategic value. On this occasion, RTV Melilla has entrusted Broad Service with undertaking a major technological modernization process with the launch of its new Visual Radio Studio. This is a space designed and implemented entirely by Broad Service on a turnkey basis. This project is conceived as a profound renovation of the traditional concept of a radio studio, which is now becoming a fully integrated audiovisual production environment, capable of generating content in multiple formats and platforms. The fundamental objective has been to provide the station with a modern, versatile, and completely digital infrastructure, aligned with the new demands of content consumption and distribution in today’s multimedia environment.

Since its inception, Broad Service has approached the project with a global vision in which engineering, technical design, and functionality converge in the same space. The studio has been designed to be completely versatile, so that it can be used for traditional radio programs as well as podcast recording, live streaming, and even television production. Every technical decision, from the choice of furniture to the network configuration, has been geared towards creating an efficient, intuitive working environment capable of adapting to any type of production.

At the heart of the new studio is Brainstorm’s Edison PRO system, an advanced Virtual Set and Visual Radio tool that combines automated multi-camera production with real-time graphics and immersive virtual sets. Thanks to this technology, the studio becomes a creative space where visual and audio production are naturally integrated, opening up the possibility of generating content designed for both linear broadcasting and distribution on digital platforms and social media. This solution represents an evolution towards more agile, visual, and sustainable production models.

Audio, an essential element of any radio environment, is managed using the AEQ Capitol IP Plus digital console, a robust and versatile system that integrates fully with AEQ AudioPlus automation software. This combination ensures precise control, smooth operation, and professional-grade sound quality. AKG P420 microphones have been installed for voice capture, offering warm and faithful reproduction, enhancing the clarity and presence of speech in both conventional broadcasts and podcasts or visual productions.

The technical infrastructure is supported by a next-generation IP network that uses protocols such as Dante and NDI, which ensure low-latency two-way audio and video communication. This fully digital approach simplifies cabling, improves interoperability between equipment, and enables efficient management of all signals. In addition, the Telos VX Duo telephone system enables simultaneous connection with multiple remote participants, expanding the possibilities for live participation and interaction.

One of the most significant aspects of the new studio is its direct connection to RTV Melilla’s television department, enabling true integration between radio and television. This synergy transforms the space into a hybrid production platform, equipped to generate content that combines audio and visual elements and is tailored to the demands of multiplatform audiences. Thanks to this connection, programs produced in the studio can be broadcast simultaneously on radio, television, or the internet, multiplying their reach and strengthening the station’s digital presence.

The project was developed comprehensively and covered all phases: engineering, equipment supply, installation, configuration, interoperability testing, and training for technical staff. Broad Service applied its experience in professional broadcast environments to ensure accurate implementation, optimizing resources and ensuring that the system can easily evolve as technology advances.

With this new Visual Radio Studio, RTV Melilla is at the forefront of public audiovisual production, taking a qualitative leap towards a modern, flexible, and connected communication model. Broad Service thus consolidates its commitment to technological innovation and the evolution of the sector, providing the broadcaster with a powerful tool to create, communicate, and connect with its audience in any format and from any platform.
